How To Make Your Own High School Musical Costumes For Boys

High School Musical and its sequels have become one of the favorite movies for young boys and girls all around the world. It is a tween phenomenon, and has spawned a huge following. High School Musical costumes have become one of the most popular choices for dress-up parties and Halloween, and this article will tell you how you can make your own High School Musical costumes for boys.

Troy
Troy is the captain of the East High Wildcats basketball team and hero of the movies, and lots of young boys want to be just like him! Help them out by creating an easy costume.

You can recreate Troy’s warm-up costume very simply. All you need is a white t-shirt, and white sweats or warm-up pants and warm-up jacket with red stripes down the sides. Add a red ‘E’ in a red circle on the left-hand lapel of the jacket, a pair of white running shoes and an inflatable basketball, and your little guy is ready to relax after the big game.

Or, re-live the big game with Troy’s basketball outfit. Red basketball shorts with a black stripe down the side, and a red jersey with black trim will start you off. You will need to add the ‘Wildcats’ logo and Troy’s number, 14, to the front of the jersey in white lettering. You can use white felt and hot glue or sew it on. Add some touches like an inflatable basketball, and red wristbands with white sport socks and running shoes. Don’t forget Troy’s signature hairdo…brushed flat and forward on the forehead.

Ryan
Ryan is a showy dresser, unlike the more jock-like Troy. His signature look is easy to recreate for a High School Musical costume. A pin-striped, long sleeve dress shirt tucked in to dark colored dress pants is a good start. Ryan loves to wear pink, but he also wore a bold black and white shirt in the finale to the second movie so that will work too.

Add a belt and loafers in matching colors. The most important accessories for Ryan are his hat, which he always wears tilted to one side, and the scarf around his neck. Add a microphone, either hand-held of worn on his head (you can use the headset from your computer) and a blonde wig, and you’re set to rock out in style!

These are just a few High School Musical costumes for boys that you can put together easily with items from thrift stores, or that are lying around the house. Watch the movie or check the internet for more ideas, and you can easily make a costume that will let your aspiring singer dress up as their favorite character from their favorite scene. Have fun!
